Around 1978 new techniques and a more pressing preoccupation with subject matter appeared. In these works, Thauberger uses vernacular techniques – splatter work, glitter dust and stars, bold colours, and strong, perhaps over-determined definition of the dominant figures as a means of presenting highly evocative subject matter.
